July 7th, 2020. Villiers St Benoît. One year ago, I was trading my legendary red Renault Kangoo for a big blue-gray Mercedes Sprinter van. The plan : building my own nest.
My Renault Kangoo Driving it back in 2009 The day I bought Karmavan
365 days after, lots of DIY weekends, screwed screws, hammered nails and help from my friends, it is still under construction but the essentials (electricity, gas and water) are all set up and I built myself a comfortable pullout bed.

Now it is time to test it by moving in. I left the carpentry pretty basic for the moment. I want to first experience the space and see how I respond to it, in order to better understand what I really need from it. Optimization is paramount in such a tiny environment, so I want to make sure to build only the most functional and essential furnishings.

The idea though, is to stay as simple as possible keeping on living a free and peaceful life, far from excessive consumerism, but still with basic comfort and coziness.
Let the #vanlife begins! Happy 1st anniversary #Karmavan. I hope we’ll celebrate many more together.
Check out one year with Karmavan in pictures.
